I’ve been tired of politics for a long time. It just feels like it’s the same people saying the same things, just wearing different colour ties.
Then someone comes along who says something so utterly stupid, so misguided and misogynistic that it reminds you – “this is why I fucking hate them”.
That person is Nadine Dorries.
Not only has she questioned the right for a disabled constituent to receive benefits, spread mistruths to propagate her anti-abortion stance and left her husband of 23 years, who suffers from MS, at christmas for her best friends husband, but now she’s played perhaps her trump card.
Yesterday, on Channel 5’s Vanessa show Nadine said:
“If a stronger ‘just say no’ message was given to children in school then there might be an impact on sex abuse … if we imbued this message in school we’d probably have less sex abuse”
There have been plenty of heartfelt responses, but the one that touched the greatest chord was this one.
