I’ve noticed more and more pieces of “urban knitting” on my travels over the last few weeks.
I like it, there are a couple of pieces that make me smile every time I see them.
Now I know it has a name, I like it even more (I don’t know why that is, it’s like I need things to have a label before I can appreciate them properly, there must be some deep-seated psychological reason but lets not go in to that).
Bristol has long been a bastion of street art, and the examples of Yarnbombing around the city are no example. Living South of the river, I regularly have to cross Gaol Ferry, which seems to have become a bit of a Mecca – with Twee as Folk’s cycle path sign joining some early work from Podknit.
Now I know it’s an organised movement I’ll pay a bit more attention, if anyone knows of any particularly spectacular examples let me know via the comments.
